Crowther Ltd goes live with OSL's e-STYLEman web-enabled ERP solution

  • e-STYLEman provides total inventory visibility for Crowther's range of menswear brands including Haines & Bonner, Piscador, Sangan, Pierre Cardin, John Langford and Frederick Theak
  • New solution provides specialist apparel entrepreneur with anytime, anywhere real-time inventory information

Option Systems Limited (OSL) has announced that Crowther Ltd - owner of a range of specialist menswear brands including classic shirt makers Haines & Bonner, Piscador, Sangan, Pierre Cardin, John Langford and Frederick Theak - has implemented a web-enabled ERP solution using OSL's e-STYLEman technology. Option Systems is a leading global specialist in the provision of IT solutions for the apparel and footwear industries, and its e-STYLEman solution will provide Crowther's sales staff and partners with anytime, anywhere access to real-time inventory information. Using e-STYLEman will help provide Crowther Ltd with greater control of its sales, stock and distribution and ensure that customers and suppliers have accurate order and delivery data.

Some 20 Crowther sales staff will access the e-STYLEman system to check on customer orders, progress reports and verify inventory availability - using their notebook PCs or other mobile devices. e-STYLEman's secure web portal delivers real time availability, and allows agents to place customer orders and feed back changes without the need to fax or call. Crowther Ltd has been successfully using the STYLEman ERP system since 2000.

"Since going live with e-STYLEman, our sales executives now have much more time available to concentrate on developing new sales opportunities rather than spending valuable time processing reports and checking-up on existing orders," commented John Edwards at Crowther Ltd. "Using the solution's web portal capability, they can now easily track their customer accounts and gain an immediate and accurate update on their order or delivery. As well as improving the productivity of the sales team, this has also helped us to increase our overall customer satisfaction.

"The solution is so flexible that we also intend to extend e-STYLEman's availability to our network of suppliers. This will be an important step for us, providing tighter control over our wider logistics process, which in turn will ensure we optimise stock management. We have a very good working relationship with Option Systems Ltd and its future-proof technology will provide us with valuable support as we continue to adapt and grow the Crowther business," he concluded.

e-STYLEman allows supply chain partners to check and progress individual purchase orders for which they have responsibility, and feed back changes without the need to fax or call. This has the benefits of increasing accuracy and reducing paperwork, and is especially cost-effective when dealing with partners in different time zones. Using integrated WebSpeed technology from Progress Software, e-STYLEman provides users with secure remote access to STYLEman data. Apparel and footwear organisations can also extend the e-STYLEman service to their customers, allowing them to place orders directly, sharing inventory levels and providing direct access to clearance and promotional items.

Leading UK footwear importer orders STYLEman ERP to increase control of global supply chain

  • Will enable GoldlineUK to eliminate spreadsheet reporting and improve visibility of global orders, imports and distribution processes

Option Systems Limited (OSL), a leading global specialist in the provision of IT solutions for the apparel and footwear industries, has announced that GoldlineUK, a leading UK footwear importer, has selected the STYLEman enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution to streamline its entire import and distribution processes. For the first time, STYLEman will enable GoldlineUK to eliminate stand-alone spreadsheet reporting, to provide total visibility over the company's global orders, imports and distribution to leading UK supermarkets. Accurate stock location information will also ensure that GoldlineUK improves financial control of its business.

GoldlineUK currently has to manually input supply chain and financial accounting data into separate excel spreadsheets. This process is both labour-intensive and unreliable as information has to be taken from a number of different applications. STYLEman ERP will manage the ordering of shoes from all over the world, monitor production and display the location of product in the import process.

"We chose Option Systems after a very competitive tender process, due to its extensive footwear and apparel experience," commented Roy Burrows, Chairman of GoldlineUK. "The fact that STYLEman is a flexible, open solution that can adapt and change as our company grows was a major factor for us. With integrated accounting modules, the system enables us to have tighter control over all of our financial information - again, a key requisite for a growing business."

GoldlineUK is a key player in the footwear importing industry and sources footwear - with a particular focus on childrens shoes - from all over the world and distributes them to a large number of leading UK retail outlets.

Tony Parkinson Managing Director, Option Systems Limited said: "As a complex, expanding business, GoldlineUK needs tight control over its stock location and its finances. Total supply chain visibility, combined with integrated accounting modules within STYLEman ERP, will deliver an increase in efficiency and profit for the company. We are working hard to ensure that the software is fully operational within 12 weeks, so that GoldlineUK can see an improvement as soon as possible."

About GoldlineUK
GoldlineUK began trading twelve years ago importing ladies footwear from South Africa. The company now purchases substantial quantities of products across all genders from the Far East. These products are designed in the UK by Goldline designers and are then distributed from designated warehouses to UK Chain Stores and Multiple Footwear Retailers. The business employs people who are highly skilled, not only in the design and manufacture of footwear, but in the control and management of the supply chain.

OSL and Eurostop partner to deliver end-to-end merchandise management system

  • New solution will integrate retail and wholesale supply chains to provide 'single view' of production and sales
  • Enables wholesalers and retailers to improve planning, inventory cost and management

Option Systems Limited (OSL), a provider in the provision of IT solutions for the apparel and footwear industries, recently announced a partnership with Eurostop, a supplier of retail systems to the fashion, footwear and general merchandise sectors. Under the agreement, the two companies will develop and deliver an end-to-end merchandise management solution that provides a single view of the entire production and retail cycle - from design and manufacture, through to distribution, branch replenishment and stock flow.

Wholesalers and retailers are increasingly working closer together to streamline operations and logistics, to ensure they optimize sales and service. The new solution will address this by enabling them to integrate retail and wholesale supply chains to improve planning, production costs and inventory management. It brings together Option Systems' specialist STYLEman ERP solution and Eurostop's Windows Retail Management Information System (WinRMIS) and WinPOS that includes specialist business intelligence, reporting, price management, stock tracking, customer loyalty and gift accounts.

"Our joint initiative clearly shows the value of collaboration between wholesale and retail specialists, and demonstrates how two complementary technologies can be successfully integrated to offer a business solution for wholesalers and retailers," said Richard Loh, Eurostop's Managing Director. "Together, we were able to quickly develop a distinctive new solution based on our respective areas of expertise, which provides a single system to manage wholesale and retail operations. In today's competitive climate, these organizations need better
insight into planning, replenishment and stock management to ensure they can rapidly react to market trends and changes."

Tony Parkinson, Managing Director, Option Systems Ltd commented: "Our STYLEman product suite already provides organisations with unparalleled industry functionality thanks to its powerful information management system that enables wholesalers to model actual workflow and real-time decision-making. Now, thanks to the added retail expertise offered by Eurostop, we are able to develop a comprehensive, end-to-end solution, where users need only implement a single system to access and control both retail and wholesale operations.."

Designed from the outset to meet the specialist needs of apparel and footwear producers, the STYLEman suite delivers a complete set of solutions for the entire business, from product development through to shipping. With added integration into Eurostop's WinRMIS solution, this comprehensive solution will now extend from concept to consumer. Because the software is entirely web-based, authorised users can access essential information from a standard web browser anywhere in the world.

About Eurostop

STYLEman ERP to provide IC Companys with total inventory visibility via the Web

  • IC Companys upgrades to latest version of OSL solution
  • Will enable it to track inventory across European distribution centres, and improve stock control of company's 11 top brands

IC Companys, one of Europe's largest clothing companies, will implement the latest version of STYLEman, the specialist ERP solution from Option Systems Limited (OSL), the leading global specialist in the provision of IT solutions for the apparel and footwear industries. IC Companys major Dutch and Danish warehouses operate on a single shared platform for the management of its 11 separate brand portfolios which include Jackpot and Cottonfield. The latest version of STYLEman will provide real-time visibility of the inventory at these sites via the Internet, significantly improving the control of sales, stock and distribution.

IC Companys selected the STYLEman solution because it has been designed to meet the specific requirements of the footwear and apparel industry. This new agreement further extends the strong working relationship between OSL and IC Companys which started in 1997. STYLEman will enable IC Companys to develop a facts-based, systematically and commercially planned design and sales process for each of its 11 brands, integrated into a single point solution. The project, which required extensive consultancy, development and management from OSL, was completed as planned for time and cost.

"When looking for an ERP solution to integrate our Regional Distribution Centres, we looked in great detail at the functionality of the systems available on the market. This investigation highlighted the robust functionality of the STYLEman system especially when dealing with multiple sites and in multiple currencies," commented Ragnar Sævarsson, IT Manager, IC Companys. "Before the introduction of STYLEman we had a limited view over inventory at our various sites. STYLEman has provided us with true visibility over inventory and this obviously has a positive impact upon the level of customer service we can provide.

"We have a very good working relationship with OSL. Together we have put a lot of effort into the development of the STYLEman solution so that it is an exact fit for our particular requirements. That is one of the major advantages about working with OSL - it is able to work with us on specific requirements at a singular level," concluded Ragnar Sævarsson.

"IC Companys is a large and diverse organisation that needs a specialist platform to oversee its European distribution operations," commented Tony Parkinson, Managing Director, OSL. "We are delighted to be extending our relation with IC Companys and that our team was able to undertake an extremely complex implementation and finish the project well ahead of the deadline. OSL will continue to work with IC Companys to develop the solution and ensure the organisation extracts maximum value from its investment in our ERP technology."

STYLEman from OSL has been developed specifically for clothing and footwear companies. As a result it has superior industry functionality and is completely web-enabled. STYLEman monitors the performance, management and results of a company's processes on an enterprise-wide level and establishes where efficiency gains can be made. It allows organisations worldwide to maximise the potential of their operations by simplifying processes, and effortlessly delivering the operational and management information they require.

OSL adds electronic measuring tape capability to STYLEprm

  • eTape reduces time needed for fit sessions by automating the measurement recording process
  • Integrated with OSL's Product Range Management solution, eTape removes the need to rekey important data, reducing the likelihood of costly errors

Option Systems Limited (OSL), a leading global specialist in the provision of IT solutions for the apparel and footwear industries, has announced eTape, the latest addition to its STYLEprm solution. The eTape electronic tape measure automates the numerous fit sessions that typically take place in the development stage of any garment, shortening the time taken to fulfil the task and dramatically reducing the risk of manual error in both the measurement and recording stages of the fitting. This new application will enable footwear and apparel designers to maximise the efficiency and accuracy of their sampling process.

OSL's STYLEprm solution goes beyond other product data management (PDM) solutions to deliver a solution specifically developed for the footwear and apparel market. It gives companies the control and visibility necessary to plan, develop and manage its entire range of products at any given time in its life cycle. The addition of eTape to the solution gives designers the ability to record fit sessions via the use of an electronic tape measure, so measurements are entered into the STYLEprm system automatically without the need to rekey measurements.

"The eTape is an exciting addition to an already strong Internet-based product development solution," commented Tony Parkinson, Managing Director, OSL. "By integrating the eTape electronic tape measure into its design process, a company can dramatically reduce the time taken to record the measurements taken in a fit session. Also the fact that the eTape transfers measurements directly into the Product Range Management solution removes the need to rekey information, which reduces the risk of human error in the data inputting phase. Such errors could prove very costly both in terms of time and investment if not detected in the early stages."

"Since its launch, STYLEprm has been extremely well received by our existing customers and new business prospects. The depth of its functionality is continuing to grow rapidly as customer feedback is incorporated," commented Tony Parkinson. "Our user groups are a vital source of information for us and we value their feedback. The eTape is the perfect example of this and we will continue to look for innovative applications that will enhance the functionality of the core PRM solution."

STYLEprm, the Internet-based Product Range Management solution from OSL, features a powerful range calendar that drives production around key dates such as shows, meetings, exhibitions and first deliveries. STYLEprm then uses these key dates to build events in the range cycle that need to be tracked - these can be varied by product type, country of origin, and the specific individuals, groups and suppliers that own each action. STYLEprm's workflow engine then tasks the people responsible, if necessary reminding them of imminent activities and alerting development managers.

STYLEprm also acknowledges that ranges never stay the same and that, as development progresses, new styles may be added, revised versions created and some dropped. With STYLEprm, range developers can view their style mix graphically and structure their range by style attributes to progress towards an optimum style/colour/size balance.

OSL announces major order from 1927 Limited for STYLEman web-enabled ERP solution

  • UK's only distributor of US label Juicy Couture selects STYLEman to streamline Europe-wide import and distribution
  • Will eliminate data re-entry and improve control of purchase invoices

Option Systems Limited (OSL), a leading global specialist in the provision of IT solutions for the apparel and footwear industries, has announced a major order for its STYLEman ERP solution from 1927 Limited, the UK's sole distributor for US label Juicy Couture. For the first time, the web-enabled STYLEman ERP solution will integrate all of 1927's separate business operating systems across its five sites in Europe. This will ensure that accurate stock information is available across its European operations in real-time and will also provide total control over purchase invoices from the US by eliminating data re-entry.

1927 selected the STYLEman ERP solution to support its recent growth from an agent to a key distributor in the apparel market. The solution will replace an Access based planning solution, which was not designed to meet the business' changing operational requirements. With a showroom in Milan, an office in Madrid and agents in five European countries, a more sophisticated software system was needed to avoid re-keying data which can lead to mistakes through human error.

Sheila Windridge, Financial Director, 1927 Ltd commented, "We evaluated five different ERP systems before selecting OSL's STYLEman. The solution stood out as it offered everything we needed in one package. Other key elements that made STYLEman first choice was OSL's in-depth knowledge of the industry and our very particular business needs as a fashion distributor. We are currently in the final stages of implementation and the service we have received from OSL has been first-rate".

"This latest order from 1927 shows that Option Systems provides solutions that cover a company's entire planning operation," said Tony Parkinson, Managing Director, Option Systems Limited. "The functionality of the STYLEman system appealed to 1927 because it was able to adapt to the recent change in its business model and the problems that have arisen from this change. Most notably, 1927 needed a single solution that could run across its European operations and provide the real-time information it needs to monitor stock levels and distribution."

"We experienced a significant upturn in sales during late 2004 and early 2005. In recognition of this we took the decision to move to new premises.

"The recent launch of our STYLEprm solution, coupled with the ongoing success of our STYLEman ERP system, means that there is a definite requirement for us to develop as a company to be able to meet the ever evolving needs of our customers. Oxford Industries adopts STYLEprm for true Product Range Management capability

  • STYLEprm to oversee Oxford Industries' Product Development Process
  • Option Systems Limited solution chosen ahead of established PDM application suppliers

Options Systems Limited (OSL), a leading global specialist in the provision of IT solutions for apparel companies, has announced a major order from Oxford Industries for its Product Range Management solution, STYLEprm. Oxford is a leading US producer and distributor of branded and private label apparel whose brands include Ben Sherman, Tommy Bahama, Indigo Palms, Island Soft, Ely and Walker and Oxford Golf. OSL will provide Oxford Industries with an initial 120 user license of the STYLEprm solution for the first implementation which will involve the four divisions that make up Oxford's Menswear Group. In total, this would represent more than 15,000 unique styles per year. STYLEprm goes beyond traditional Product Data Management (PDM) solutions to ensure that Oxford Industries will always have the control and visibility necessary to plan, develop and manage its entire range of products at any given time.

STYLEprm replaces Oxford Industries' incumbent PDM systems - a well-known commercial package, an "in house" developed solution and the customary office products - and offers unrivalled control over its clothing ranges all the way from initial sketches through to production for real-time range revision. Unlike many other PDM systems available on the market STYLEprm has been specifically designed with the needs of the apparel and footwear industry in mind and the fact that it is Internet-based means that users can have access to the system anywhere in the world via a standard web browser.

"We needed to replace and improve our existing PDM applications and evaluated all the leading solutions in the market before choosing Options Systems," commented John Baumgartner, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Oxford Industries. "There is no question on our part that we selected the best product and we greatly appreciate the manner in which OSL conducted the evaluation and accompanying negotiations. We look forward to a long and meaningful relationship."

"This order from Oxford Industries is another significant step for Option Systems and comes on the back of a number of exciting orders from other leading apparel companies such as Hunter Rubber Company and Profile Bodywear in the last quarter. We are finding real traction in the marketplace and have become a de facto alternative to the established competition in the PDM arena, complementing our position in the ERP area," concluded Tony Parkinson.

STYLEprm's workflow engine features a powerful range calendar that drives production around key dates such as shows, meetings, exhibitions and first deliveries. STYLEprm then uses these key dates to build events in the range cycle that need to be tracked - these can be varied by product type, country of origin, and the specific individuals, groups and suppliers that own each action. STYLEprm's workflow engine then tasks the people responsible, if necessary reminding them of imminent activities and alerting development management.

STYLEprm also acknowledges that ranges never stay the same and that, as development progresses, new styles may be added, revised versions created and some dropped. With STYLEprm, range developers can view their style mix graphically and structure their range by style attributes to progress towards an optimum style/colour/size balance.

STYLEprm takes full advantage of STYLEman's flexibility, with a browser-based architecture that means it runs equally well on Mac, PC or Linux clients, it can be accessed from anywhere in the world, is available in a range of different languages, and can be integrated easily with third party ERP, CAD and merchandise systems for true end-to-end supply chain management.
